The Festival "Opera – to all" in St. Petersburg Starts with "The Golden Cockerel"

St. Petersburg International Festival "Opera – to all" will open with the opera "The Golden Cockerel" by Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov, that was not staged during the composer's life due to censorship prohibition.

"At Cathedral Square of Peter and Paul fortress the III St. Petersburg International Festival "Opera – to all” opens with the presentation of N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov opera. All festival operas will be staged open air with the most beautiful architectural ensembles of the city in the background. The admission is free" – say the festival organizers.

The festival programme features the special guest – the theatre "Music Hall”, on July 19.

In Alexander Park, in front of the theater, Beethoven opera "Fidelio" will be performed by united orchestra conducted by People's Artist of Russia Sergey Stadler.

At Yelagin Island on July 20 everyone may listen to Peter Tchaikovsky opera "Queen of Spades", Oliver Weder from Germany will be a conductor.

Opera lines will be performed by soloists of the Opera and Ballet Theater of St. Petersburg Conservatory as well as by soloists of the Academy of young opera singers of Mariynsky Theatre, laureates of international awards.
